Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Terence Allan Crawford holds an impressive record for both amateur boxing and professional. Having won numerous awards and titles in the lightweight, light welterweight, and welterweight divisions; he is presently the WBO welterweight champion and is undefeated.

His career started when he took up boxing at the early age of 7. From then, Crawford went on to fight a total of 70 official amateur bouts losing only 12 times. Despite his early success, it was the moment that he got shot that changed his life. The professional boxer was sitting in his car during the early hours of the morning after a dice game in his hometown Omaha, Nebraska when a bullet ripped through the back window of his car and slashed his head just below the ear. The bullet, luckily, ricocheted off his skull and left him with no serious damage except the mindset to change his life.

“When I got shot, it changed my life tremendously, and put me on the right path,”

It was then that Crawford knew he needed to make something of himself and after a rocky upbringing, turned his life around. Crawford then went on to make his professional debut on March 14th, 2008, starting as he meant to go on, impressively knocking out Brian Cummings in the first round.

Crawford bagged his first WBO lightweight title in 2014 against Ricky Burns. He then went on to defend twice that year before moving up in weight class the following year. Crawford has since held multiple world championships in three weight classes, including the WBO welterweight title which he has held since 2018. Previously he held the WBO, Ring magazine and lineal lightweight titles from 2014 to 2015; and the undisputed WBA (Super), WBC, IBF, WBO, Ring and lineal light welterweight titles between 2015 and 2017. Crawford became the first male boxer to simultaneously hold all four major world titles in boxing (WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO) he is one of only 7 boxers to ever do so. He has also been ranked as the world’s best active boxer as well as regarded as one of the best boxers in the world. In terms of pound-for-pound rankings, he is now ranked fourth.

Along with his long list of impressive titles, Crawford is also known for his exceptionally fast hand speed, punching power, counter-punching abilities and defensive skills, as well as his ability to comfortably switch hit from orthodox to southpaw.

Off the boxing ring, Terrance has a family of five with partner Alindra Person including three sons – Terence Crawford Jr, T. Bud Crawford, and Tyrese Crawford and three daughters – Miya Crawford, Lay Lay Crawford, and Trinity Michele Crawford. Partner Alindra Person was also born and brought up in the city of Omaha in Nebraska, just like partner Terence.
